La fertireline est une hormone synthétique libérant l'hormone lutéinisante. (LH-RH) analogue, et c'est un puissant agoniste de la LHRH. Après une augmentation passagère, l'administration continue entraîne une régulation négative des taux de LH et de FSH suivie d'une suppression de la biosynthèse ovarienne et testiculaire des stéroïdes.
