Fertirelin är ett syntetiskt luteiniserande hormonfrisättande hormon (LH-RH) analog, och det är en potent LHRH-agonist. Efter en övergående ökning, kontinuerlig administrering resulterar i nedreglering av LH- och FSH-nivåer följt av en suppression av äggstocks- och testikelsteroidbiosyntes.

Fertirelin administrerades i början av protokollet som följdes 7 dagar senare av 500 μ G kloprosterol.
